The rundown on the FireBoard Competition Series Short Food Probe 28mm SF628T
The SF628T is the short member of FireBoard's Competition Series: a 28mm (about 1 inch) probe with a 1.8mm (1/16 in) diameter on a 6 ft (1.8 m) cable. The thin, short tip suits smaller cuts of meat and places where a standard probe will not fit, and it uses a 100K thermistor sensor rated from -18 to 300°C (0 to 572°F).
FireBoard recommends it for ribs, brisket and fish, or any cook where space around the food is limited. It is sold as a thermistor probe only, so it is for FireBoard units that support thermistor probes. New FireBoards ship with thermistor support, while the FireBoard 2 Pro takes Type K thermocouple probes only.

- Rust or corrosion from exposure to coastal/salt-air environments without appropriate maintenance
- Commercial use (unless the product is specifically rated for it)
- Probe damage from direct flame contact or submersion in liquid
- Cable damage from sharp edges, heavy objects, or improper storage
- Moisture damage to the main unit
- Software or firmware issues (covered by free ongoing updates)
