Overview
The rundown on the FireBoard S1G Antenna
The FireBoard S1G Antenna plugs into the auxiliary port of a FireBoard 2, FireBoard 2 Drive or FireBoard 2 Pro and lets the controller receive data from S1G devices such as the FireBoard Beacon. S1G runs in the 902 to 928 MHz band, and FireBoard states that these lower frequencies travel further and pass through walls and obstacles more easily than the higher frequencies used by Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
Once a Beacon is transmitting to the antenna, its readings appear on the FireBoard screen and in the FireBoard mobile app. That suits a smoker in a garage or shed, a walk-in fridge or freezer, or a larger building where Wi-Fi alone struggles to reach. One antenna supports up to 32 Beacons at once. The Beacon is sold separately.
